These upcoming events will showcase Chet O'Keefe performing originals from his CD "Gamebird" which includes "Ring the Bell" the 2010 Song of the Year, IBMA, International Bluegrass Music Assoc. Chet opened for Grammy-award winner Nanci Griffith on her tour of Ireland last year. Now he is calling Kettle Falls "Home", and will share his americana/roots/blues style at these shows. From accoustic arrangements to electric dance beats, Chet's golden-honey voice is warm and soothing with intriquet, insightful lyrics. N.E.W. Animal Protection League presents the 3rd Annual Furball featuring The Fat Tones, Sat, Feb. 4, 8 pm to midnight. Dress up or dress down, just kick up your paws and have a tailwaggin time. The Friends of the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge winter program - Polar Bears - Interested in Polar Bears? The Polar Bear has been described as “the canary in the coal mine of global warming” and they were the first species in the U.S. to be listed as a threatened species because of the projected loss of habitat due to global warming. Do you wonder why this is happening? Do you have questions about global warming? Are you just curious about Polar Bears? If so, please join us to see some great pictures and learn some things about the great white bears of the north that have captured the human imagination throughout the ages. Come join the Fiends of the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge Friday, March 2, at 7 pm, at the Colville Community College auditorium, as we are pleased to welcome Dr. Steven C. Amstrup for an informative presentation and discussion about these titans of the north. Dr. Amstrup is the chief scientist for Polar Bears International. He has studied and researched all aspects of Polar Bear Ecology in the Beaufort Sea for over 30 years. Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments and a chance to meet with friends.

North Country Artisans' Market will hold an off-season market
on Wednesdays from 11am until 5pm at 282 W. Astor St. (The old North Country Co-Op ~ Across from the Ag Center). This effort to provide local vendors with an indoor space to sell their goods will include local farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs offering a variety of produce, food products, art, hand-crafted goods, healing arts, live music, merchandise, information, prepared foods, hot and cold drinks, and more. Vendors are welcome to inquire about space availability, fees, and to request an application form by calling Deanna at 675-0084 or Sonia at 675-2085.
