May 4: 7th Annual Community Sale&Swap, spring fundraiser
for the Colville Food Bank, will be held at the fairgrounds in Colville,
Saturday, May 4, 9 am to 3 pm. Businesses, crafters, yard sales. 110

about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). The program
includes a film screening of Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives
and a talk by Thom Stahl, 4th generation wheat farmer from the Spokane
area. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and pre-registration

Farmers Market Opening Days! Our opening days are Wednesday
morning, May 1st and Saturday morning, May 4th, 9am to 1pm, at our downtown
location, at the clock tower, Main & Astor, in Colville. This year
promises to be exciting, as there will now be 2 downtown shopping days
at the Market, every Wednesday & Saturday morning, May 1 until October
26, 2013. Come for coffee, shop early for the best selection, or stop
by for lunch while you shop. The month of May offers a wide array of
organic and natural vegetable and culinary herb starts, fruit trees,
berry plants and bushes, rose bushes, bedding plants, ornamentals and
more for your home and garden, includes heirloom, heritage, common and
unique varieties. Our local family farms are bringing in the season's
first early salad greens, spring onions, radishes, rhubarb and more.
Also available will be artisan baked goods, local honey, farm fresh

The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture Presents - David
Douglas, A Natualist at Work, through August 24, 2013. A Young
Man’s Adventure Begins. In 1824, Scotsman David Douglas sets sail
for the Columbia River, halfway around the world from his home. Only
25 years old, he’s ready for a great adventure as the first trained
naturalist to explore much of the American Northwest. He was a plant
hunter. Douglas collected many new species as he explored the territory
by canoe, horseback, and foot. Using advice from company traders, hunters,
and tribal guides, he braved pelting rain, windstorms, and capsized
